Inside Your Designer’s House: Minimalist Sage Nursery

Nesting.

Can we normalize designing your nursery after the baby is born? During pregnancy I always get a burst of energy to tackle all of the looming house projects but the nursery seems to fall to the wayside. After all, their nursery is all over the house for a few months, so I prefer to wait until I get to meet them before pouring myself out on their space. I feel like the vision really unfolds as I spend more time with this little person and I have to say, this nursery fits Jonah so well as it feels so soft, delicate with a side of boldness.

As we awaited Jonah heading to his room, I got a creative spark last month to transform his bedroom. I’m not usually drawn to green, but I’ve determined this is my year to go bold with color. After living in a beautifully airy white house for years, I find myself craving some color. We’ve had a few recent projects where beautiful greens were showcased so I knew I wanted a soft sage color for Jonah’s accent wall. We installed floor to ceiling vertical board and batten and I love how it brings simple dimension and warms the space.

My favorite accents in his room are the fluted plug in sconce with brass and wood detailing, taupe checkered sheets, geometric brass mobile, and the oversized round wood knobs to make the dresser more of a statement piece.

And as you can tell, Jonah is one happy baby to finally have a place he can call home.
